On behalf of the Regional Hospital District and the Village, I attended a retirement party for Murray Ramsden, CAO of Interior Health, in Kelowna.

TUE JAN 19
With a Staff member, I met with a representative of BC Housing on the 16 unit low income housing project for Keremeos. They advised us how and when we can expect construction to begin. We also briefly discussed required infrastructure needs.

The Directors of South Okanagan Medical Foundation held their regular meeting at Penticton Regional Hospital.
The Trail Society held their meeting and the main discussion was getting the trail to Kobau Park and a possible loop along the river to the Wainwright Conservatory property. I believe progress is being made slowly.

All of Council and Senior Staff held a 3 ½ hour, 2010 strategic planning session. We defined our primary objectives for 2010.

MON JAN 25
All of Council took in the Committee of the Whole meeting, in Council Chambers.

Early in the morning I met with the Economic Development officer of Okanagan Falls, to acquire general information useful for Keremeos and the entire Similkameen in economic development and working together.
The Directors of Areas B and G and I met to discuss our joint budgets. They are all increased, and a concern for us.
The Lower Similkameen Services Society held their monthly Directors meeting. This is the organization that will be responsible for operating the low income housing in Keremeos.
THUR JAN 28

Representatives of the Village, Similkameen Country, and Areas B and G met with Community Futures to receive a presentation of Community Gardening and how they want to move on a project in the South Okanagan and Similkameen.
Councillors Cowling and Bauer and I attended the Business after Business at Similkameen Country [info center].

A “B.C. Street” committee meeting for all participants met in Hedley. Plans are coming along very nicely and people are working hard to make this event in Richmond a success for our Valley.
