2022 General Local Elections

General voting day will be October 15, 2022, 8am to 8pm and an advance voting opportunity on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. All voting will take place at Victory Hall, 427-7th Avenue, Keremeos. Mail ballots will be available for this election after September 26, 2022.

As four nominations were received for four Councillor positions, the following candidates will be elected by acclamation:

As two nominations were received for two School Trustee positions, the following candidates will be elected by acclamation:

Information for Voters

To be eligible to vote you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older on general voting day, October 15, 2022 or on the day of registration
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have been a resident of BC for at least six months before you register to vote
  • Be a resident of the jurisdiction in which you wish to vote or be a non-resident property owner
  • Not be disqualified under the Local Government Act, or any other enactment, or by law from voting in a local election

There is no need to pre-register to vote and “voting cards” will not be distributed in the mail, as the registration of all electors will take place at the time of voting.

At the voting place, resident electors should produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature).  Picture identification is ideal, but not necessary. The identification should prove both place of residence and identity.

Non-resident property electors should produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the majority of the property owners.

Examples of acceptable identification at the voting places includes:

  • BC Driver's Licence
  • BC ID Card issued by the Motor Vehicle Branch
  • Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence issued by ICBC
  • BC CareCard or BC Gold CareCard
  • Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security Request for Continued Assistance Form SDES8
  • Social Insurance Card issued by Human Resources Development Canada
  • Citizenship Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
  • Real property tax notice
  • Credit card or debit card issued by a savings institution
  • Utility bill issued for the supply of electricity, natural gas, water, telephone services or cable services
